Asustor AS3202T Multifunctional 4K Quad-Core NAS

A NAS today is much more than just a place to store your data. In fact, if that is all you need then cloud storage is probably enough for you. No, a NAS today offers a lot more opportunities and features compared to just a dumb storage device. Whether is is to serve as a personal mail server, be the hub for all your security cameras or just a place to store and stream your media files from, a modern NAS should manage it all.

The ASUSTOR AS3202T is such a modern NAS. With good hardware, app support and even a HDMI-connector it is a NAS intended for the power user or small office.

The AS3202T comes with quite potent hardware.

This is a 2-drive NAS which supports up to 20 TB via two 10 GB discs.  The Celeron is a good CPU that should handle media transcoding well and the NAS comes with hardware acceleration for several media formats.

The NAS comes with 2 GB of memory which cannot be upgraded. This will limit the virtualisation support the NAS can handle.

We also “only” get one Gigabit port which means you cannot bind connections.

Something you do not often see on a NAS is the IR Receiver and the HDMI-out port. This means you can access and control your NAS without having to go through a web browser as well as use it as a media player directly connected to your TV.

  1. How do you backup to B2 Backblaze from an Asustor NAS? I know Synology and QNAP support B2, but Asustor?
